Question for Artist Alley.

Postby MnM » Tue Jan 05, 2010 10:16 pm

I was wondering what we were allowed to sell?
Can we sell anything we made or assembled?
Like Jewelry, clothes, purses, and such.
Even if we didn't make the cloth or beads?
Of course sticking with the Anime, Asian, and Lolita theme?

Well, we don't expect you to weave cloth or create beads

The short form is that anything sold in the Artist Alley has to be artistic in some way and should be related to the anime/fantasy/sci-fi theme. This is most commonly presented as paintings or drawings, but can include jewelry made from beads, for example. Printing a picture you found online to a t-shirt transfer and selling shirts that you ironed it onto would not qualify (though shirts of your own artwork are fine). Clothing/purses would really depend on the specifics of the items. You can always send me a picture of the item via email and I can let you know if it is acceptable.

Alright so.. if we made Asian like jewelry or extreamly girly jewelry (lolita-ish) (of course not making the beads but stringing them together and designing the style) We could sell those.. and if we made some items that resembled anime characters jewelry we could sell those as well?

Artist Alley tables will be $60 per table. This does not include badges however, and those must be purchased seperatly in order for you to enter the convention.

I'm trying to get them added to the registration site...with any luck, they'll be up in a week or so, but I can't promise that, since I don't have access to add them myself

OK, they are available now, but I need to make sure that the price is right. The listed price doesn't match what I have here

I have a few questions too --

Me and a friend are going to be selling art and what not at our table, but we also have a friend who would be interested in selling hand-made, crafted from wood Keyblades (from Kingdom Hearts). However, those are considered "weapons" (at least, we had to have a weapon check during Tokyo in Tulsa when we were carrying them around), so would those be okay to sell if they are made safely?

The listing price is correct. Please remember that it includes one (1) three day membership as well.

I'm actually having a bit of trouble finding a link to get a table in the Artist Alley. The only link I see on the main page is for the dealers room.

If you look here (http://izumicon2010.eventbrite.com/) you will see the price for an artist alley table with 3 day pass included.

It says $110 now. If tables are $60, then that leaves $50. It would be cheaper to buy the table by itself and then a separate 3-day pass at that price...

We never offered our tables for $60 alone.

We only offer the combo membership with artist alley table. Please note that we are not making you pay for the separate service fee on top of the table and memberships like we did last year. Instead we are taking the fee out of the total price.

Will Izumicon offer the tables by themselves?
No.

I know tables can't be sold alone =) Thanks for the info, it's just curious that artists are being charged more for the same 3-day membership than regular congoers, especially since most of us don't get to do much other than table-manage all weekend.

I think the above quote is why people are confused about the table price. I suppose if you want to break it down the tables are $74 and the badge is $36 so that's why it's $110.

Last year the tables were $76.88 for a full size table and a 3 day membership. So it really does seem like we're being charged extra at this point. :/
I know, I know, you're probably thinking "If you don't like the price no one is making you buy a table." but the extreme hike in the table prices was a bit of a shock.

Yeah that's all I'm sayin'. If there's some extra "service fee" or whatever, just toss that in with the table price, cause really the tables aren't $60, they're $74. It's just a bit deceptive, is all.

Yes. You are correct. The tables are $74. However the badge is $30 and the service fee is $6.

The price of the tables has never been $60 for this year. Not sure where everyone is getting the idea that it was $60 to begin with. So. No. The tables are not $60.

I think all the prices have spiked this year for things, but, I'm not complaining either.
Just means more work is being put into the convention to make it the best possible :)

Hey, I was wondering...

I'm going to be painting faces, since some people come to the con with a full cosplay but no makeup, so they might go for that. Also for fun. ^-^

A: Can I do that?

B: Can I pay the full rate, rent a corner or end spot and have my "table" set up at a right angle to the others, or kind of off by myself, since I will need space for someone to sit down as well as a spot for my supplies?

C: Do Artist's Alley tickets change price as you get closer to the con?

D: Are there tables left? Pleasepleaseplease?!

I really hope you can do that! That would be positively cool, even for those of us who don't require makeup for our cosplays. I can see myself running by your table just to get my face painted for the sake of getting it painted ^_^

Question: will we (the artists) have access to electric outlets? I was planning on bringing my computer, possibly for making paypal payments if people run out of cash. Also :P , if there will be electric outlets, do you know if the hotel has free wifi?

Thanks!
